How to successfully paint a ceiling easily and neatly

  • 2 min read

The room ceiling is often forgotten – even though it subtly affects the brightness and overall appearance of the space. Over the years, the ceiling can yellow, darken, or become stained. Fortunately, a new and fresh surface can be easily achieved by painting!

Trendy interior designers now paint the fifth wall, that is, the ceiling, in the same shade as the walls. This timeless trick of interior designers brings a natural atmosphere to the space and the overall look of the room is calm to the eye. Colored ceilings are common in hotels and restaurants as mood creators.

Which paint is suitable for the ceiling?

Frenchic wall paints are also excellent for ceilings. They are fully matte, do not reflect light disturbingly, and adhere well to various surfaces. If the ceiling has been previously painted, light sanding and cleaning are sufficient before applying a new paint layer. Our wall paint's 2.5-liter customer size is usually a good choice for ordinary rooms, such as living rooms or bedrooms. For old traditional building ceilings and panels, the matte and breathable Frenchic wall paint is suitable.

If there is less surface to paint, you can choose a shade from other series where the customer size is smaller. The gazebo walls and ceiling in the picture are painted with the green Apple Barn shade.

How it proceeds – ceiling painting step by step

  1. Protect the floor and upper parts of the walls. Use protective plastic and masking tape.

  3. Sanding if needed, especially if the surface is glossy or dirty.
  4. Start painting from the edges with carefully mixed paint. This way you get a neat border.
  5. Paint with a roller in long strokes. Avoid pressing too hard and remember to mix the paint well before use and during the work.

Color choices for the ceiling?

Although traditionally the ceiling is painted white, Frenchic shades offer new options:
