Here are easy tips on how to make a space interesting with small changes
If you don’t know where to start, use these small and effective change tips from interior design professionals that you can apply in any room at home or at work.
Boldly use your favorite colors and start the transformation one room at a time.
Combine one ordinary thing with one special thing
🟠If you have an ordinary bed, get special reading lights
🟠Ordinary bedroom? Paint the ceiling in your favorite color
🟠Add subtle color to the kids’ room – paint the floor green or pink!
🟠If you have an ordinary kitchen island, pair it with stunning chairs
🟠Boring bathroom – invest in unique and fun towels
🟠Ordinary dining table? Hang an interesting light fixture above it or boldly paint the table frame
Views are important
When you look around the room, there should be interesting elements, things you don’t see everywhere – something that catches the eye.
Examine the views in your home from different rooms, and possibly also from outside –
what can be seen through the window inside, what view greets you right at the front door?
What kind of view do the rooms have whose doors are kept open daily? What color is the farthest wall you can see?
With these tips, you can make your space planned and unique
🟠You can make an interesting change with colors
Blue sofa, blue in the rug, and blue in the painting behind the sofa.
Paint the living room walls blue and the hallway ceiling in the same shade. Also paint the trims and doors in the wall color.
Also pick an accent color that you use sparingly – but repeatedly in different rooms – the accent color can vary, for example, with the seasons.
For example, warm terracotta works well in winter and autumn in cushions or throws – textiles are easy and affordable to swap to a lighter shade in spring.
There can be a third shade behind the decor used together with the main color – replace all white surfaces with a shade, try light brown, pastel pink, or natural white instead of pure white.
Always combine a painted shade with wallpaper in the color scheme so that there isn’t just plain white wall next to it.

🟠You can do it with shapes
Repeat one chosen shape in several elements throughout the home.
Use a grid
Sharpness and structure: Make a grid mirror wall in the hallway or living room and repeat the grid theme in, for example, the living room coffee table shape or kitchen lighting. Paint a checkered floor in the hallway or kitchen. Make a grid panel wall from MDF strips in the hallway or bathroom.
Use round and organic shapes
Soft shapes: Mirrors, rugs, living room coffee table... This style suits especially boho and retro interiors.
Use vertical lines
Sleekness: Make a slat or trim wall in the kitchen and a slat strip on the wall behind the TV in the living room. Arrange paintings in vertical lines. Get a strongly striped rug. Paint a thick color stripe on one wall...
