Al Fresco I Award-winning furniture paint range for indoors and the garden
Frenchic Al Fresco is a durable furniture paint for indoors and outdoors
Al Fresco is a water-based, matte furniture paint for indoor and outdoor use, a new kind of hybrid paint suitable for many different surfaces.
Refresh your kitchen cabinets, front door, chest of drawers or garden furniture with beautifully self-leveling paint. The weather-resistant range won the Best Paint for Gardens and Exterior Surfaces category at the Ideal Home Awards 2025.
Al Fresco is suitable for wood, laminate, uPVC surfaces and properly prepared metal, for example. It usually doesn't need a separate primer or protective varnish. Cleaning and preparation appropriate to the material are still necessary.

What is Frenchic Al Fresco paint suitable for?
Al Fresco Inside / Outside is a versatile furniture paint for indoor surfaces and outdoor furniture. You can choose shades from the same paint range for kitchen cabinet doors, a hallway chest of drawers, and patio chairs. The matte finish brings different pieces of furniture together as part of the same interior.
Explore collections organized by use: paints for kitchen cabinets, front door paints and paints for garden furniture.
Can you paint with Al Fresco without a primer?
Al Fresco paints already contain primer. However, the material being painted and the condition of the surface determine the preparation needed. Wash the surface, remove any peeling paint, and sand according to the instructions.
For example, bare ferrous metal needs a suitable primer. Before starting, check whether a surface previously treated with oil or wax can be painted.
How much Al Fresco paint do you need?
A 750 ml tin covers about 6 m² on a non-absorbent surface with two coats. A 250 ml tin covers about 2 m². Porosity, an uneven surface, and a major color change can increase paint consumption.
Allow for at least two coats of paint, and check the coverage and instructions for your specific product before painting.
How quickly does Al Fresco paint dry?
Allow each coat to dry for at least two hours before applying the next. Under normal conditions, the paint reaches its full hardness in about 2–3 weeks. Handle freshly painted surfaces with care during this time.
When painting outdoors, the weather after painting must also be suitable. Check the product’s temperature and weather instructions before painting an exterior door or garden furniture.
How do I choose the right furniture paint color?
Look at the shade alongside your floors, walls, and textiles. Outdoors, consider reference points such as the facade, patio, and garden colors. With a Peel & Stick color sample, you can try the color next to the item to be painted in different lighting.
Choose a subtle shade for a calm overall look, or let a single piece of furniture stand out. Find more help planning your project in Frenchic’s painting guides and frequently asked questions.
