RECYCLING INTERIOR - MAKE YOUR OWN STYLE

UPCYCLED DECOR - CREATE YOUR OWN STYLE DIY

Are you a fan of upcycled decor?

Future living is becoming increasingly eco-friendly. We need a passion for DIY and less burdensome consumption in home decor, too.

Upcycled decor is affordable - it's a choice - and a small eco-friendly act that saves natural resources and guides our consumption habits in a more sustainable direction.

The Frenchic Paint range was born from these very values: a passion for restoring old furniture and a desire to promote recycling, DIY, and a hands-on spirit.

Your personal style at home changes, evolves, becomes simpler or more abundant - it lives and changes with you.

The most important thing is that you feel at home in your own home and decorate with furniture and colors you love - there can be hits and misses along the way.

Upcycled decor and vintage furniture are a wonderful way to create atmosphere and layers in a space, with secondhand furniture having its own fascinating story.

We at Frenchic love different styles, colors, a cozy and relaxed sense of abundance, and our talented, enthusiastic, hands-on customers!

Low-budget makeover projects

If you love color and have a distinct personal style at home, you know it's almost impossible to find ready-made furniture in exactly the right colors.

Often, a piece of furniture has a beautiful shape and is practical too - it's intact and sturdy, but the wrong color!

Luckily, DIY projects with the Frenchic range are affordable, easy, and safe to do at home, without complicated steps or tools.

It's perfectly fine to repaint furniture, walls, or doors in colors you love. Paint protects the surface of furniture and helps it withstand years of use.

Solid wood, vintage furniture can last for decades, even a hundred years, and withstand many repaintings and repairs. Old furniture was made to last.

Craft skills and handmade home decor are valued - you can also transform furniture into something new that suits you better.

You can restore, repair, modify, paint, or simply appreciate and continue using secondhand furniture and home decor - for yourself or even to sell.

An old wooden bed may be unusable and offered for free to the first person who can collect it, but for a sharp-eyed upcycler, its beautiful, intact headboards are valuable decorating material.

Pick up the best tips here for wonderful upcycling projects:

  • Buy secondhand - find great vintage items and furniture through resale channels. You don't always need to buy new.

  • Look at the things in your home: what do you have? - Make changes to the furniture you already own. Check the attics and storage spaces, and ask friends and neighbors if you need a particular piece of furniture. Often, you can get one for free.

  • Sometimes a piece of furniture needs nothing more than a clean and some beautiful new handles to look like new again!

  • Painting is a really affordable way to update or transform furniture - compare the price of a can of paint with the price of a new piece.

  • A colorful piece of wallpaper or a coat of wax can also make a piece of furniture a favorite again.

  • Sell your surplus furniture; someone is surely looking for just the kind of piece you have sitting unused in the attic or storage.

  • Immerse yourself in the world of DIY and “do it yourself” ideas, pick up the best tips, and boldly experiment with colors and styles

Old wooden furniture is made to last

Sturdy wooden furniture stands up to use and time much better than today’s board furniture - buying secondhand furniture is always a personal choice, a small act for the environment. An old piece of furniture is often fascinating for its possible story, too.

Every groove, scratch, and dent on a piece of furniture’s surface tells you it has been cherished and well used.

Solid-wood furniture can easily last a hundred years - it can also withstand repainting and repairs.

You can absolutely replace the handles with new ones you like and choose your favorite color for your furniture - it’s great that an old piece has found a home where it’s appreciated and can be used again - after all, that’s what it was made for.

Recycled decor doesn’t mean a jumble of styles, but a budget-friendly way to create a unique, personal look for your home - colorful or harmonious

You can focus on decorating with colors, shapes, or a particular era - create a Scandinavian interior or hunt for beautiful, solid-wood, rustic-romantic furniture - usually at a fraction of the price of new pieces!

Just choose a piece of furniture to get started

Saving a secondhand piece of furniture is not only trendy and environmentally friendly, but also an absorbing hobby and passion! What could be more fun than finding that long-sought-after “treasure” at an online flea market, with the trip to pick it up already becoming part of the furniture’s new story?

Combine your furniture makeover with your other creative skills: reupholster fabric-covered pieces, add macramé cords or tassels to a dresser's keyhole for decoration, or paint beautiful decorations on the furniture yourself, just as people used to do.

If you value loving used items, recycling, and appreciating handmade goods, you're sure to love the Frenchic range too!

A used piece of furniture doesn't have to be antique or special for you to paint it and make it your own – you can do this with almost any furniture or home decor item.

Reasons for making a change might include yellowed old pine or wooden furniture, paneling, dark or otherwise dull furniture or walls that you want to transform with color, lightness, or character.

Sometimes just a little paint on an existing piece of furniture, a wall, or kitchen cabinets can save you from buying something new. Maybe you just want to brighten things up and add a new color to your surroundings - that's fine too.

Just choose the piece of furniture or room you want to start with!

The muted matte shades in the Frenchic range are reminiscent of many traditional colors

Our customers love the beautiful shades in the Frenchic range, with just the right options for any interior style.

The powdery, matte Frenchic shades are enchanting.

The range includes several shades reminiscent of old, matte traditional colors, which is why they look beautiful on both old furniture and in older buildings, complementing their character.

Explore these shades, for example, in the Al Fresco range: Wise Old Sage, Dusky Blush, Duckling, and Swankypants

For a Scandi-boho style, use neutral, nature-inspired shades

For modern, Scandinavian, and boho-style interiors, the Frenchic range also offers the shimmering, pure white ’Dazzle Me! shade, the perfectly matte black ’Blackjack’, and gorgeous neutral and earthy shades.

Make a statement with bold color combinations in vintage and retro-style interiors.

For playful, colorful, even retro or vintage-style interiors, choose from orange, yellow, green, brown and sweet pastel shades. The Frenchic range has over 70 ready-made shades.

There are plenty of painting styles and ideas – you can paint just part of a piece of furniture, for example: how about smart, modern black legs on an old dining or coffee table?

You can sand the rest of the furniture back to a beautiful, bare wood surface – a project like this requires only a small amount of paint, yet the result is a stunning, stylish piece of furniture, certainly more affordable than buying one from a store. Try the black shade Loof from the Lazy Range, for example.

You can do the same using the powdery pale pink shade 'Dusky Blush' from the All Fresco range. It completely transforms the look of the table, making it perfect for a light, French country-style interior.

Perhaps you have that yellowed pine chest of drawers at home or at the cottage, just waiting for a fresh coat of paint – you'll find a Frenchic blog post for this project, too.

Environmentally conscious consumers and decorators are genuinely concerned about the world's overconsumption and the use of natural resources – buying used furniture and home decor lets you influence your own consumption habits and steer them in a more sustainable direction by choosing, for example, recycled furniture instead of new.

Craftsmanship and DIY are also values shared by our Frenchic customers – you don't always need to buy new.

With a little effort and creativity, you can make old furniture look completely different – “like new” doesn't have to mean “factory-new,” just new to you and your home.

Change a little or a lot - the style is up to you!

Once you've decided to work on an old piece of furniture, start by cleaning it.

Thoroughly clean the furniture inside and out by hand, gently washing it with water. Use a furniture cleaner that removes grease and dirt from surfaces, as well as any nicotine residue. ’Sugar Soap’ is a foaming, effective furniture cleaner (a concentrated formula that goes a long way) that makes it easy to get your furniture ready for painting.

Washing also freshens up the furniture and lets you inspect its clean surface.

Dents and scratches are signs of a piece’s durability and long use – you can love the scratches and the stories behind them, and leave them there to tell the furniture’s story.

Sometimes all it takes is replacing the handles on a chest of drawers or adding modern pin legs to an old bookcase – a new decorating style or room makeover doesn’t have to be an expensive investment.

Whether your furniture is inherited, given to you, or a thrift-store find, our instructions can help you change its look as little or as much as you like.

A clean wood surface can be beautiful in all its shades. If you want to leave it visible, you can treat wooden surfaces and tabletops with furniture waxes. They come in different shades, and waxing all or just part of a piece of furniture is an easy way to give it a fresh, modern look. The furniture waxes in the Frenchic range are soft, non-toxic natural waxes made with beeswax.

When your style changes, you can sell or pass the furniture on to another loving home – perhaps its look will change again there!
