Outdoor Painting Checklist – Ensure a Successful Result
Frenchic Al Fresco paint range is designed for outdoor use – it won’t peel, crack or fade. Al Fresco paints contain UV protection and a mold inhibitor. Paint furniture that you can store sheltered from the weather during the winter.
A few tips to ensure the best possible result:
1. Check the weather forecast
You need at least 48 hours of dry weather after painting. An unexpected shower can ruin the job, and dew can be heavy in late summer. In spring, you can paint outdoors when the temperature is +10 degrees during the day and remains above freezing for at least 48 hours overnight: this gives the paint a chance to dry.
2. Prepare the surface carefully
Wood, terracotta, and natural stone absorb moisture – make sure they are completely dry before painting. A good rule of thumb is to wash the surface one day and paint it the next.
3. Paint in the shade
Direct sunlight can dry the paint too quickly and affect the end result. Protect your project with shade or a parasol. Remember to protect the paint can from the sun and debris too.
4. Protect your surroundings and yourself
Even when painting outdoors, drop cloths and painting clothes are still essential. Al Fresco paint is very durable once dry – even splashes are not easily removed.
