You can do the stencil painting with a round stencil from the Frenchic series with a brush , a narrow roller or a sponge by 'dobbing'.
In larger works, wash the stencil from time to time, and the pattern will repeat itself exactly. The tape helps the stencil to stay in place if you are designing a wall or other vertical or curved surface.
After the pattern is covered, you can still sand it to look worn and you can wax patina on top of the pattern and on the edges. You can also make stencil patterns with Frenshee metallic paint.
Protect the painted pattern with a finishing coat, especially if you are painting floor tiles or similar hard-wearing surfaces.
